Choir
Like to sing in the shower? Want to share your singing voice with others? Then choir is for you!
There is no audition to be part of choir, so if you aren’t sure if you are a tenor, bass, soprano, or alto, don’t worry. Choir Director Cheryl Raine will make sure you are in the right place.
Choir is a class at Roger Bacon High School, and they perform throughout the year for the student body. They have a fall concert in November, a Christmas concert in December, and a spring concert at the Awards Banquet. They also sing at all the masses and special events, like the Veterans’ Breakfast.
Believing a choir should be heard a lot, they also perform outside of school. They have performed in elementary schools, nursing homes, businesses, and malls. And they have traveled to Chicago, New York and Disney World.
While traveling and performing are fun, the choir also takes its singing seriously, competing in the Ohio Music Educators Association Competitions. They have a history of superior and excellent ratings.

Spartan Express
A related organization, Spartan Express is the show choir. They sing in more venues and add chorography to the songs. While the rehearsals are outside of the day, students can still be in a sport or other extracurriculars while being a part of Spartan Express. It is the responsibility of the student to learn the music and come to practices prepared, but practices do not exceed four hours a week.
Like the Choir, Spartan Express has a history of superior and excellent ratings in competitions.
Highlights include:
1st Place with a superior rating in the Windy City Classic in Chicago in April 2005
2nd Place with an excellent rating in the Smokey Mountain Music Festival in April 2004
Runner-up in the Beach Waterpark's Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree competition in 2002
Performed in the Magic Music Days Festival at Walt Disney World in Florida in March 2002
The representative choral group from Ohio at the 1998 FAME Concert Series in Washington D.C.
Best Overall Show Choir/Jazz Choir at the 1997 Great American Music Festival in Chicago
